January 29, 2020
I’ve been in business for 10+ years, have taken hundreds of thousands of images and am finally writing my very first blog entry. Why? The honest answer is that I’m not sure. Too busy with the kids? Too intimidated by the technology involved? Hesitant to put myself out there? Wondering if anyone will even be interested in reading my stuff? All of the above are true. BUT – new year, new decade, new endeavor. And I actually do enjoy writing quite a bit so I am excited to finally have my very own blog.
January is typically a slow month for photographers, between the holiday rush and spring season. Quietude does not equal inactivity, however. It’s the time for reflection, goal setting, continuing education, gear maintenance, and – in my case this year – recovering from a painful shoulder/back injury. Thanks to my wonderful PT (hit me up if you need a recommendation) I’m nearly pain free and good as new, in fact better than in quite a long time. I realized that I’ve been living with unnecessary pain and discomfort for years, and it was time to tackle it.
The silver lining to my sedentary, pain-in-the-neck January weeks: a brand-new website for Marion Meakem Photography (including this blog!) It’s a bit of a source of pride for me because not only does it represent many years of labor of love but because I conquered the technology with no meltdowns and minimal cussing at my computer. (Take that, Meakem kids!).
I hope you’ll take a minute or two to look around. (But don’t pat me on that shoulder quite yet). And stay tuned for more content. I have lots of catching up to do.
